Picture Framing & Gilding in Modbury, Devon

4 steps to consider when you frame your art:

1. Choosing a frame:

There is more to selecting a frame than colour and material, when a client comes into our studio, we take time to asses its condition, we also consider how a frame can present the work of art most effectively whilst protecting it from damage and degradation.
Our initial client discussion and subsequent selection of frame for a piece of work is vital spending the time at this stage in order to give the advice necessary to achieve the optimum solution.

2. Fashion or Period frames:
When framing a piece of art, I take time to research its history everything I do is based on knowledge and research, we aim to provide you with the best possible solution considering not only the frame but the period of house it will be displayed in.

3. Original frames:
The original frame is an important part of the provenance of the art work, and where possible its retention and is an important aspect of its overall value, as a frame conservator I can restore any frame.

4. Location and installation of the art work is as important as the type of frame you choose:
Our studio is a safe environment with a stable relative humidity and
temperature, a regular and controlled environment is important for hydroscopic materials such as wood paper and canvases. By installing your work we can recommend the best possible situation away from direct heat and light sources. Our selection of UV glazing offers optimum results
